Lyricist Dr. Avnish Rahi is a strong signature of the literary world who has written not only songs, ghazals, nazms, poems, Muktaks but also almost every genre of writing. Lyricist Rahi’s songs are spreading their fragrance not only from Ollywood to Bollywood but also at the international level.
Birth and Education:
Lyricist Dr. Avnish Rahi’s birthday is celebrated on 11th July but according to the Hindu calendar, call it a coincidence or the will of nature, he was born on Basant Panchami, the day of birth of Goddess Saraswati, the presiding deity of knowledge. He was born in 1974 in a simple family of village Lohgarh, Tehsil- Atrauli, 40 km away from Aligarh headquarters and after some time his father got selected in government service who later retired from the post of “Trade Tax Officer”. But his father, despite being in Government service, is a famous poet and well-known litterateur. Dozens of his books, poetry collections, epics, epics and audio-video cassettes/CDs/DVDs including a musical film on Dr. Ambedkar have been released by T-series.
Lyricist Dr. Avnish Rahi is also a natural multi-talented person like his father. An example of this can be seen in the fact that at the young age of only 10 years, he had given the knock of writing the great script of success in the literary field by writing his first song on the assassination of the then Prime Minister late Mrs. Indira Gandhi. After Graduation, B.Ed., then Post Graduation and then IG. Despite studying till M.Ed. Mumbai, he never wanted to do a government job, rather he wanted to establish himself as a successful lyricist in Mumbai, but he accepted the wish of his parents and passed the PGT examination in 2004 and secured second position in Uttar Pradesh and joined the government service. Presently he is the Head of the Department in the Arts Faculty of Hiralal Barhasaini Inter College, Aligarh.
Composing songs like a silent seeker:
Glorious lyricist Dr. Avnish Rahi, who was honoured with the title of Saraswati Putra, received the pen and poetry as a gift from his father poet Amar Singh Rahi. A lyricist who has been endowed with a sharp mind since childhood, Raahi’s first book “Bhakton Ki Pukar” was published by Narayan Das Bookseller, Nayaganj, Hathras at the age of 15 and when he was just 17 years old, his audio music album “Kali Chunari” of 10 songs was released by Rahul Cassette Dibai, Bulandshahr. And since then, several audio/video, CD/DVDs etc. have been released by almost all companies including Tips, Venus, Lara, T-Series, Chanda, Sisodia, Shabnam, Rahul, JVL, Treasure, Nargis, in which playback singers like Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu, Sadhna Sargam, Anoop Jalota, Vinod Rathore, Shahid Mallya, Shabab Sabri, Debashishdas Gupta, Khushboo Jain, Tripti Shakya, Indu Sonali, Damodar Rao, Raja Hassan have lent their voices.
Literary achievements:
About a dozen books of lyricist Dr. Avnish Rahi have been published, among which (Rahi’s timeless creations) Kalam Ki Vedana, Un Dinon-1992, Jeevan Gyanpunj, Bhakton Ki Pukar, Zakhmi Kalam-Siskate Naagme, Bhim Garjana, Rajiv Gandhi Amar Rahenge etc. are the prominent ones.
Apart from this, lyricist Rahi is also writing songs for Hindi films in Mumbai, such as Dream City Mumbai, Dance is King, Mission Hour, Rashtra Mata Savitribai, Yeh Pyar To Hamdesha Rahega etc. Today there is a long list of musical albums of songs written by lyricist Raahi which include Dil-e-naadan mane na, Main hoon tera deewana, Mahakarunik da Lord Buddha, Manav-manav ek saman, Sai-amritdhara, Main hoon beauty queen, come my Sai Deva, the creator of the constitution is leaving the world, Sai Chalisa, Ande ka funda, Radha ka deewana tu Shyam, Ram kahani, Sai tum mere ho, mere Baba Bheem aaja, Sai mantra, Dr. Ambedkar biography, glory of Saibaba of Shirdi, Suno re Bheem kahani etc. Nearly 100 audio/video music albums have been released. Not only this, many musical films of lyricist Raahi have also been released in which “Suno re Bheem kahani” was much talked about. The musical film Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar Jeevan Gatha released by Gulshan Kumar & Super Cassettes Industries (T-Series) set many records and was appreciated by millions of viewers.
Father’s joint writing and literary creation:
Dr. Avnish Rahi, a calm-natured lyricist, composed the epic “Bhimcharit Manas” in about 530 pages and seven chapters in joint writing with his father poet Amar Singh Rahi, which has an unmatched inclusion of traditional folk genres like doha, chaupai, chhand, lavni, savaiya, bahartabbeel, chaubola, Radheshyam, Alha, geet, bhajan, ragini, dialogue etc. This epic published by Samyak Prakashan, New Delhi was released by His Excellency Vice President Dr. Hamid Ansari.
In this series, he wrote the holy Dhamma book “Buddha Gyan Mahasagar” in the same traditional folk genres based on Tathagata Gautam Buddha and his Dhamma in joint writing with his father. In this, the life and Dhamma of Tathagata Buddha have been very poignantly described from beginning to end. Along with this, about 800 couplets full of the invaluable sayings of Buddha have been included in it with their meanings. This great holy Dhamma book was released by the then Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Manmohan Singh. And in the same sequence, recently the epic “Kanshiram Charitmanas” full of the struggle of Kanshiram’s life has been published by the world famous “Samyak Prakashan” New Delhi, which is likely to be released next month.
Honored with various titles and awards:
Lyricist Dr. Avnish Rahi is a life member of Film and Screen Writers Association, Mumbai (WFA) since 2001 as well as a life member of Indian Performing Writers Society (IPRS). Many documentary films have been made on the extraordinary personality and work of lyricist Dr. Rahi, out of which ‘Kavya Rasdhara’ and ‘Hauslon Ki Udaan’ documentary films have also been telecast on TV.
Lyricist Dr. Avnish Rahi has a long list of honors and awards received, he has been honored 48 times so far. He has also been awarded with many awards. Such as – Saraswati Putra, Aligarh Ratna, Sahitya Gaurav, Dr. Ambedkar Ratna, Life Time Achievement Award, Samyak Sahitya Ratna Samman, Dr. Ambedkar Fellowship along with a Gold Medal award at Talkatora Stadium, Delhi by the then Chief Minister of Delhi, Mrs. Sheila Dixit.
Dr. Rahi’s various music albums/poetry collections or books have been released by various eminent personalities, among whom His Excellency President Dr. Pranab Mukherjee, His Excellency Vice President Dr. Hamid Ansari, great poet Padma Bhushan late Dr. Gopaldas ‘Neeraj’, famous music director Ravindra Jain, Chairman of National Scheduled Caste Commission Hon. P.L. Punia, famous Bollywood playback singer Kumar Sanu, Padma Bhushan Udit Narayan, Anuradha Paudwal, film actor Raj Babbar etc. are especially noteworthy.
Honorary Degree of Vidya Vachaspati Doctorate and International Honor Nepal
On one hand, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Hindi Vidyapeeth Government of India honoured the educationist lyricist Avneesh Rahi, who has given a new dimension to his songs at the international level, with the “highest honor” of “Honorary Degree of Vidya Vachaspati Doctorate 2024″ for his incomparable contribution in the field of art, literature, culture, education and song-writing, in view of his education, qualification and 40 years of long experience. On the other hand, under the joint aegis of Nepal Culture and Film Center, MBM Nepal was honoured with the prestigious International Achievement Award Best Writer of the Year for 2024.
