Cold has finally arrived in Delhi bringing with it the thick fog that has been covering the capital city over the past few days. This is the time of the year when the average temperature in the city starts to plummet and the chill in the air is quite palpable as the fog hovers over the city. The month of December is known to be one of the coldest months in Delhi, and this year has been no exception with the mercury dipping way below normal temperatures. The minimum temperature in the city has been recorded to be at 6-7 degree Celsius which is the lowest the city has seen this season.
This has been the bad news for Delhiites as the cold has caused many activities of the people to be limited especially when the winter break is still going on for many. Moreover, the fog has also reduced visibility in the city and made it more difficult for people to go about their day-to-day activities. The visibility was around 50 meters on Tuesday. Now due to heavy fog, around 100 flights have been disturbed. This delay has been due to heavy weather for the last three days. Many trains have also been delayed due to the heavy fog. Now according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi may get some relief from the cold weather on the 29 and 30th of December. It will have to be seen how many days will this relief continue.
