The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for many districts in Tamil Nadu due to Cyclone Mandous. The Cyclone which is about 440 km southeast of Chennai has caused the government to declare a red alert in around 17 different Districts in Tamil Nadu. These districts include Kanchipuram, Vellore Ranipet, and Chennai among others.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have also been deployed in many parts of the districts in case of any crises. Holidays have been declared for schools and colleges in these 17 districts.
The official Twitter page of DRM (Divisional Railway Manager) Chennai has informed about a help desk that will commence its operation from 11 pm on 8th December and has issued various BSNL numbers for support. Other preparation includes food stalls that will be kept open to provide relief to the people.
