The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) interrogated former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik for five hours on Thursday in connection with a Rs 300 crore bribery case. Malik, who served as the Governor of J&K from August 2018 to October 2019, arrived at the CBI’s headquarters in Delhi at around 11 am.

During the questioning, the CBI officials reportedly asked Malik about his role in the alleged bribery case. The agency is investigating whether the former governor had any knowledge of the bribery or if he had received any kickbacks.

According to sources, Malik was cooperative during the interrogation and answered all the questions posed to him by the CBI officials. He also provided the documents that were asked of him.

More About The Case

The Rs 300 crore bribery case pertains to the alleged payment of bribes by a Hyderabad-based real estate firm to politicians, bureaucrats, and businessmen in Jammu and Kashmir. The firm, Emaar Group, is accused of bribing government officials to secure contracts for a real estate project in the state.

The CBI had earlier arrested two former J&K government officials in connection with the case. These include former Principal Secretary to the J&K Chief Minister, BVR Subrahmanyam, and former Additional Secretary of the state Home Department, Anil Kumar Gupta.

Malik’s questioning by the CBI comes amid the ongoing investigation into the bribery case. The agency has been conducting raids and arrests in various parts of the country to unearth the alleged corruption in Jammu and Kashmir.

Malik, who is currently the Governor of Goa, has not yet commented on the matter. However, sources close to him have said that he has nothing to hide and that he will cooperate with the CBI in the investigation.

The CBI has not yet made any official statement on the matter. However, sources have said that Malik’s questioning is an important development in the case and that the agency will take appropriate action based on its findings.
