Lucknow Super Giants pacer Naveen-ul-Haq had said something to Virat Kohli during the IPL 2023 game against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, which irked the former skipper. The spat which began during the game, continued long after the match and it became a full-blown heated verbal exchange as LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir got involved.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) registered an important away win against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and got a couple of crucial points as they too now have 10 points in the bag in the ongoing edition of the IPL.
While the pitch played slow and low with the bowlers ruling the roost, the fire and the heat came from former RCB skipper Virat Kohli, who was pumped up and was egging on the crowd, shushing them as the visitors defended a low score on Monday, May 1 in Lucknow.
The tempers flared during and after the match in particular as Kohli and Gautam Gambhir got into a heated exchange. Both were in each other’s faces before being separated by their respective teammates. However, it wasn’t the two who started the spat. It all started during the match when LSG pacer Naveen-ul-Haq said something to Kohli between the overs, before the 16th over of the second innings.
Senior statesman Amit Mishra and one of the on-field umpires came to the rescue and separated Kohli and Naveen before the matter got heated.
