Today, in a tragic accident, 16 Indian Army jawans were killed after the truck they were traveling in fell into a gorge in Sikkim. The truck was carrying a lot of personnel and was part of a 3-vehicle convoy that was moving towards Thangu when it failed to control and tumbled into the valley. The truck was balancing towards a sharp turn when it went down. A rescue operation was launched quickly and many soldiers were air evacuated. Union defence minister Rajnath Singh expressed his pain over the incident. This is a devastating loss for the families of the soldiers who lost their lives.
