The fountain that will be built as part of the Agartala Smart City Limited (ASCL) project will be Asia’s largest. It will be 120 meters long.The project’s financing has been approved by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav, Mission Director & Chief Executive Officer of ASCL, announced this on Wednesday. “The central government has set aside Rs. 294 crores for this purpose, while the state government will spend Rs. 78 crores. The total amount for the Agartala Smart City Limited project is Rs. 372 crores, with works worth Rs 342 crore completed so far.”He also stated that the central government has approved Rs 51 crore for the widening of the road that connects Agartala city to MBB Airport and that the work will be completed by January 2023.

Dr. Shailesh, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder, and other members attended a meeting of the City Level Advisory Forum (CLAF), which was chaired by Union Minister of State Pratima Bhoumik.Discussing about CLAF meeting on her social media account MoS Pratima Bhoumik stated that the state and central governments are determined to make Agartala a ‘Smart City.’ “As part of that, the Advisory Committee’s full team met on Tuesday.”

Under the supervision of Venkaiah Naidu Ji, then Urban Development Minister, Agartala city was designated as a Smart City. Agartala Smart City is moving forward quickly thanks to the efforts of AMC Mayor Deepak Majumder and all councilors and officials.”As part of this, various parks in the city’s heart are being beautified, as well as ponds and city streets. Furthermore, two major roads in Agartala are being rapidly upgraded, one from the airport to Agartala city and the other from the city to the Akhaura check post. In addition, many other projects are being undertaken as part of the Smart City initiative, such as the improvement of the bus station and the beautification of Ranipukur.

The meeting also addressed the city’s main issue, water drainage. Elbert Ekka Park was built as part of Agartala Smart City, which is a source of pride for the entire community. Agartala’s beautification and smart city projects will continue in the coming weeks.
