The police told that two head constables had been fired for illegally extorting jewelry worth rupees 50 lakhs from two travelers at the Indira Gandhi International Airport.

According to an inspector, Robin Singh and Gaurav Kumar, who was suspected of handling anti-touting responsibilities, have been terminated immediately by the officials. They are locked up inside the jail of a nearby police station.

The First Information Report (FIR) states that the action was conducted in response to two reports of similar extortion cases of travelers in the past.

Salaudeen Kathat, the main victim, said that after arriving at Indira Gandhi International Airport, a police car with two officers stopped him and ordered him to follow them, and then they dragged him into a car, took him to a nearby forest, assaulted him, and stole the gold.

The officer further stated that Shaikh Bashi had previously filed a similar case after being cheated of 400 gm of gold after arriving at Indira Gandhi International Airport from Dubai.

Since both crimes had the same method of operation, the police looked into each of them and eventually detained the two suspects at the police station at Indira Gandhi International Airport.
