Dharmendra, the evergreen ‘He-Man’ of Bollywood, recently took Twitter by storm when he posted a photograph of him taking part in the Filmfare Talent Contest, way back in the early days of his career. He ended up winning that contest, but the film that he was assigned to, unfortunately, never got made. The competition changed the course of his destiny and the actor made his acting debut with Arjun Hingorani in the movie Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere which saw a good reception at the box office. The same photograph that Dharmendra posted on his Twitter handle was recently discovered by Anwar, Jaan Mohammed’s grandson. He was a photographer assigned to take Dharmendra’s pictures for the Filmfare competition.
A meeting was arranged and this left-out photo was eventually presented to Dharmendra who grabbed it in order to show it to his fans. In the 50 years since, Dharmendra has worked in an array of different movies, including the classic and evergreen ‘Sholay’. He is still rock-solid in the industry and is expected to star in Karan Johar’s directorial, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, which is slated to release in the coming months. The blessed star has not let age slow him down and still continues to make an impact with his performances in every new movie he stars in. He is truly an inspiration not just for the budding actors of Bollywood, but for people of all ages.
