India has received a letter from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky seeking additional humanitarian aid. The letter was addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has promised to provide support to Ukraine.
Zelensky expressed his gratitude for India’s previous assistance and emphasized the need for more aid due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. He also thanked India for its support at the United Nations and for recognizing Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
India has been providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine since 2014, when Russia annexed Crimea and tensions between the two countries escalated. India has also been supporting Ukraine in its efforts to counter Russian aggression.
The Indian government has responded positively to Zelensky’s request and has promised to provide more aid to Ukraine. India has already provided medical supplies, food aid, and other essentials to Ukraine.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs released a statement saying that “India remains committed to providing humanitarian assistance to Ukraine in its time of need. We stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and will continue to support their efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region.”
The statement also emphasized the importance of a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine and called on all parties to engage in constructive dialogue to find a lasting solution.
India and Ukraine have strong ties, with both countries cooperating in various fields such as agriculture, defense, and energy. The two countries have also been exploring ways to expand their trade and investment ties.
The request for more aid from Ukraine comes at a time when India is also facing its own humanitarian challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite these challenges, India has demonstrated its commitment to providing assistance to other countries in need.
