Maharashtra has set up an Independent Ministry for Disabled Persons

The Maharashtra government opened the Ministry for Divyang in Mumbai to provide educational and professional needs to Persons with Disabilities on the International Day of Disabled Persons, with this, Maharashtra has established itself as the first state with an independent ministry for people with disabilities.

The State government stated that the Ministry will be responsible for ensuring the welfare of people with disabilities and the efficient execution of several government programs for them. A Minister will be appointed during the upcoming winter session of the Assembly, and 2,063 new positions have been created for this ministry.

The Ministry seeks to assist people with health, employment, travel facilities, education, jobs, scholarships, and rehabilitation while also offering positions in the private sector. Additionally, they build parks and centers specifically for disabled people in each area.
