The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT-H) and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) have inaugurated a DRDO Centre of Excellence (CoE) at the institute. The CoE will focus on research and development in advanced technologies related to defence systems. The inauguration ceremony was attended by officials from both institutions, including the Director of IIT-H and the Director-General of DRDO. The CoE will provide a platform for collaboration between the two institutions and will work towards the development of technologies in areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and robotics.
The DRDO CoE at IIT-H is part of the government’s initiative to establish centres of excellence in partnership with leading institutions across the country. The CoE will also work towards the development of technologies related to critical defence applications, including missile technology and avionics. The CoE will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and will have a team of experts from both DRDO and IIT-H working together.
The Director of IIT-H stated that the CoE will provide a unique opportunity for students and researchers to work on cutting-edge technologies in collaboration with DRDO. He further stated that the CoE will also help in developing solutions to critical national defence challenges. The Director-General of DRDO stated that the CoE will play a key role in developing and delivering technologies for the defence sector.
The CoE will also provide opportunities for students to work on live projects in collaboration with DRDO. This will help students gain practical knowledge and experience in developing technologies for the defence sector. The CoE will also facilitate joint research and development projects between DRDO and IIT-H, which will help in enhancing the capabilities of both institutions.
