Russian military has eliminated four Ukrainian fighter jets in the Black Sea region, raising tensions between the two countries. Additionally, Russia has menaced Japan by flying a Tu-22 bomber over the disputed islands, striking them with missiles. The move has been criticized by Japan, who called it “extremely regrettable” and warned Russia of severe consequences.

The incident comes amid heightened tensions between Russia and Ukraine, with both sides accusing each other of aggression. The Russian military has denied the allegations of attacking the Ukrainian fighter jets, saying they were conducting routine exercises.

In response, Ukraine has announced that it will be conducting military drills in the Black Sea region to strengthen its defense capabilities. The Ukrainian President has also urged the international community to condemn Russia’s actions and provide support to Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the Japanese Defense Minister has condemned Russia’s violation of Japanese airspace and territorial waters. He has called for Russia to stop such activities and engage in peaceful negotiations with Japan to resolve the dispute over the islands.

The disputed islands, known as the Northern Territories in Japan and the Southern Kurils in Russia, have been a point of contention between the two countries since the end of World War II. Russia seized the islands from Japan in the final days of the war and has maintained control over them ever since.

The incident has also drawn the attention of the international community, with the United States and European Union condemning Russia’s actions. The US Secretary of State has urged Russia to cease its aggressive behavior and engage in constructive dialogue with its neighbors.
