The Aam Aadmi Party end the 15 years of rule of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) election 2022. The Aam Aadmi Party secures 134 seats whereas the Bharatiya Janata Party gets 104 seats out of a total of 250 seats. The Congress party gets 9 seats and the others receive 3 seats in the MCD election.
With 104 seats in the hands of the Bharatiya Janata Party, The BJP stated that they would still be able to influence who becomes the Capital’s next mayor. The polls showed that the two parties were in a close race. Early indications were that the BJP would take the lead, but the Aam Aadmi Party quickly overtook them to claim victory. Only three percentage points divided the two parties in terms of vote share, but Congress lagged much behind in the race.
The leader of The Aam Aadmi Party Arvind Kejriwal said that he is committed to maintaining the desire of the people. He further stated that Delhi has given its son the responsibility for clearing the city’s trash, eliminating corruption, and restoring order to all parks, he further said that he will never be able to repay the people’s love towards him but he can do whatever possible for every single people with great efforts.
